Match notes
RUNNING IN THE GUTTERS

MIDDENHEIM. It was a perfectly nice day for blood bowl, despite that (or because of it?) only 8.000 skaven fans showed up to the arena. Although the human team had the upper hand with 10.000 fans scraming "Bastards! Bastards!" the game did not start well for them. Just before the Bastards were to recieve the Vermins kick-off, a big lump of what some say was warpstone, came flying from the crowd and hit catcher Dieter Platzenhalter in the head, knocking him out. Not letting that get to them though, thrower Werner Von Braun picked up the ball and hurled it to Karl "Catchup" Heinz who rushed into the skaven's zone but fell as he tried to run between two rats, loosing the ball and getting knocked out. After that it was all about the Legio Pestilentia.
In the first half debuting Rat Ogre Parsley's Pet had his first CAS and a couple of KOs and did a great blitz, downing the Imperial's ball carrier, leading to a touchdown. Skrattle Steerpike had an hat-trick in the first half that ended 3-0 for the skaven team.
The second half didn't start much better for the visitors as the Vermin recieved and a quick pass by Opus Fluke to Splint Sparrowmarsh lead to an early touchdown. The ensuing kick-off was expertly placed by Skuill Doomworm on the line of scrimmage, where it was caught by a surprised Jakob Grimm. Appearently confused by having the ball, the lineman looked to the coach for guidance, but unable to hear his instructions over the roar of fans and the squeeling of rats, he did the only thing he knew. Charging full frontal. Unfortunately there was a huge shape in the form of Parsley's Pet in his way and his moment as a ball carrier was soon to be over. Then there were a few turnes of chaos as the ball changed hands a few times, Fester Flakkverm badly hurt Dieter Platzenhalter, and eventually it was picked up by team captain Opus Fluke who then passed it to Splint Sparrowmarsh and the last tochdown of the game was a fact.
This game also dispelled the last doubt that this team can score. After last week's exhibition game when star-player Hakflem Skuttlespike had 4 TDs, the teams own stars stepped up and delivered. Splint Sparrowmarsh now has 5 touchdowns in the last two games and looks to be on the path to super stardom himself. Parsley's Pet had a promising start wit one casualty and several KOs. Parsley himself also looked invigorated by the presence of his beloved pet and was defiantly defending at the center of the line of scrimmage for most of the game. For this he was even awarded an MVP honour.
The team is now 13-1 this season and are bound for the finals. We can't wait for that game.
